Here’s a list of things you should consider before choosing a photographer:

1. Cost and extra fees. Look closely at the quote or the price list. Sometimes the shoot itself is cheap, but photographers charge an arm and a leg per additional photo if you want to receive more than 2 photos. With Quinn: I provide all photos to my clients without extra fees. I size them to specific sizes so they are ready to go to printing or canvasing. 
2. Personality and communication. You like the photographer’s work, but what about their social skills? Are they going to get frustrated with your family when some of the kids aren’t cooperating? Are they emailing or calling you back in a timely manner? Be sure to call the photographer to start building a relationship. Email is okay to start, but set up a quick phone conversation at some point before the shoot. With Quinn: My communication skills and patience on site are what set me apart from a lot of photographers. 
3. Experience. How long has your photographer been shooting for? What kind of photography do they usually do? Someone who specializes in photographing people can have a much different skill set than someone who shoots wildlife and nature. With Quinn: I have shot everything from high profile corporate headshots to small family portrait sessions. Each shoot is unique and I have the versatility to capture what I need in all situations.
